Remember, the opening is a race for development and control of the center. Try to avoid too many pawn moves, especially wing pawns. Focus on developing your pieces quickly and castling early to safeguard your King. Knights before Bishops. A Knight on the rim is dim. And, loose pieces fall off the board. Avoid these axioms at your own peril! As avoiding these axioms often leads to a short game.
